Stay on Track is an innovative, fun, and comprehensive approach to substance abuse prevention. Stay on Track is composed of 12/ 45 minute interactive lessons in classrooms, after-school, and other youth settings. The research-based curriculum is designed for classroom implementation by National Guardsman to middle school (grades 6, 7, and 8) students.
However, Stay on Track is much more than a substance abuse program, providing lessons on health, decision-making, goal setting, communication skills, interpersonal relations, and media influences. Stay on track combines sound prevention science principles with the popular appeal of motor sports and addresses the unique development of middle school students.
Stay on Track was developed by the National Center for Prevention and Research Solutions (NCPRS), headquartered in South Daytona, Florida. NCPRS is a non-profit organization founded in 1989. NCPRS was assisted was assisted by the University of Maryland’s Center for Substance Abuse Research and a multidisciplinary team of researches, teachers, administrators, health professionals, racers, law enforcement officers, parents, and young people. The Stay on track program has been mapped against National Educational Standards and meets standards in the health, life sciences, and language arts areas.
Stay on Track has been approved by the Anchorage School District and meets components of the Alaska Content Standards as they relate to healthy life style development. The Alaska National Guard Counter-Drug Program is living its motto “Drug Free Starts with Me.” It is ready to be your partner in the delivery of this innovative substance abuse education program. The Guard offers it to you at NO COST for training, materials, and implementation.
